Dancing in the Mountains

I had be trying to get together with Jo Blake to shoot some photos of him dancing and after a long(but well worth it) wait we were able to coordinate our schedules. Joe is getting ready to start another round at Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company and they will have some performances ready by the fall. Here are a few examples of Joe's amazing talent.

The water was a little chilly so we had to do a couple short shoots. Joe was a good sport even though he was dancing barefoot in icy water. He still made it look graceful somehow.

Shootin Guns

Here are some shots of competitive shooter Eric Lichtenberg. Eric competes around the country in various types of shooting competitions using guns from 9mm's to shotguns. I got a couple pointers from Eric about how to shoot properly and got to try out his guns. The big 357 was my favorite, maybe because it made me feel tough like Clint Eastwood. Loading up the 9mm

Notice the shell flying out of the gun.
Uh yeah....Big gun=don't mess with me

Pride Parade- Better late than never

So I know its almost been a month but at least I got around to putting some photos of the Pride Parade up. Here's a couple from a very lively and colorful parade.Slug Magazine was out in full force showing their support for the community.

Double Day

The other day, Shaun Sullivan and I headed to some new waters in search of some fly fishing. Although we didn't catch anything, it was a beautiful day to be playing in the river. After we fished for a while I got a call from Sarah Larsen to go shoot some rock climbing. I was excited to shoot because I have never gotten the chance to set up my strobes and light up a climbing wall. We headed up to Ferguson Canyon and got a couple shots. Enjoy

Fly Fishing

This past month I was introduced to fly fishing and I have really taken to it. Just being on the river surrounded by nature is enough for me. Fly fishing is a very challenging sport that takes a lot of knowledge and skill. Its been fun and frustrating just trying to learn how to cast, what the fish are eating, how to read the river and how to untangle line. I'm sure I'm a couple years from getting to the point of being good at it but that's part of the fun(sometimes). Here are a couple shot that I took on my last 3 trips.

In between fishing spots Sean Kerrick and I set up some flashes and setup some scenes. It was pretty fun to shoot different subjects and collaborate with Sean and Josh(background).
Sean's first fish of 2010.
Josh checking out the sunset.
One night we went on a little camping excursion along the river. The moon came out and I was able to get a couple moonlit shots along the river.

This is the scene that we woke up to. A couple inches of fresh snow giving the may landscape a winter like feel.Sean caught about every fish in the river. Here are a couple to prove that. I had a fish on my line for a little but the line got caught on some rock and I had to snap it. And the learning continues.
